🔍 Overview
The Permanent Bid Permissions screen allows you to:
View all existing permanent permissions for your buyers
Add or edit new permissions for any bidder
Apply global restrictions or approvals independent of specific auctions
Block bidders for non-payment or disruptive behavior
This screen is not tied to a particular auction and is intended for long-term bidder management.
👤 Where Else Can You Edit Permissions?
Permanent permissions can also be set from within the Registrations section of any Current Auction: Alternatively, permissions can be accessed directly through HiBid.com as follows:
Log in to your HiBid.com account at my.hibid.com.
Click on your username in the top-left corner.
Select Permanent Bid Permissions from the drop-down menu.
Go to Current Auctions
Select the Registrations tab
Edit a bidder’s approval status
If marked Permanent, the status will carry over to all future auctions
These will also appear in the Permanent Bid Permissions screen
✅ Types of Permissions
You can set:
Approved – Bidder is permanently approved for all auctions
Declined – Bidder is permanently declined for all auctions
Bid Limits – Set a dollar amount a bidder can bid before needing manual approval
When declining a bidder, auctioneers can add a public note visible to other auctioneers but not to the bidder.
A decline also reduces the bidder's score by 20 points, making them less favorable to other auctioneers.
💡 Pro Tip
If you want to soft-block a bidder without a full decline, approve them for $1. They will go into pending when placing a bid.
Addressing Non-Payment Issues
Non-payment issues can be addressed by:
Setting a bidder's permissions to 'Permanent Decline'.
Applying a $0 bid limit, which prevents automatic bidding but retains the bidder in a pending status.
Set their permanent permission to:
"All Bids for All Auctions = $1.00"
This allows them to bid only up to $1, and any bids above that will trigger a pending status, requiring your review.
This method is discreet and doesn’t notify the bidder that they’re blocked.
For Legal Conflicts or Disruptive Behavior:
Use 'Permanent Decline' to block individuals causing operational issues.
Provide necessary documentation to validate the restriction if needed.
Using Notes and Alerts for Staff:
Add notes to a bidder’s profile to create internal awareness regarding payment issues, legal conflicts, or disruptive behavior.
Such notes ensure your team is informed without blocking the individual directly.
