Tips and Keyboard Shortcuts for Clerking

This guide outlines common tips and hotkeys that help you clerk auctions faster, whether catalogued or non-catalogued.

General Tips

  • Use arrow keys to move between fields or navigate past entries.

  • Press <Enter> to confirm entries and move forward.

  • Use the + or = key while focused on the Save button to record another quantity of the same lot at the same price (without pressing Enter).


Keyboard Shortcuts

Duplicate a previously used lot

Enter lot# + (e.g., 7+)

Clerk a pass-out or choice

Use + on Save button

Delete a bid

Click the red X button (mouse only)

Clerk an unsold lot

Use a designated “house not sold” bidder number

Enter a lot on the fly (catalogued)

Type 0 as the Lot Number

You can disable one of these fields depending on how your auction is structured. See Clerking Grid Settings Explained for more information.


Optional Display & Entry Features

You can toggle these settings using the Options/Tips button at the bottom of the Clerking Grid:

  • Audible Feedback: Enable/disable sound effects

  • Skip Lot Numbering: Automatically skip entering the next lot number

  • Show/Hide Alternate Bids: Display backup bid information


Behavior in Different Auction Types

Non-Catalogued Auctions

  • Next Lot Number auto-increments after each save

  • Last used source code auto-fills from previous entry (unless disabled)

  • Leads and descriptions can carry over or reset between lots, depending on settings

Catalogued Auctions

  • You can override the pre-filled Lot Number to clerk out of order

  • Use grouping syntax to sell multiple lots together (e.g., 8-12, 1,4,7-9)

  • Reserve prices display below the Unit Price field (for reference only)
