Clerking Grid Overview

The Clerking Grid allows for fast, keyboard-driven manual entry of auction results during both catalogued and non-catalogued auctions

Updated over 3 weeks ago

The clerking grid is optimized for efficiency, accuracy, and keyboard-based navigation.

Key Features

  • Supports both catalogued and non-catalogued formats

  • Keyboard-first navigation using <Enter> and arrow keys

  • Buyer visibility options:

    • Wide-screen grid: displays buyer names

    • Standard grid: displays bidder numbers

Data Entry Basics

All fields in the Clerking Grid can be accessed using:

  • <Enter> to move to the next field

  • Arrow keys to move between fields or navigate previous entries

Use of a mouse is not required for typical clerking tasks. The only exception is deleting a row, which requires clicking the red X button.

Unit Price vs. Extended Price

Auction Flex supports two primary pricing methods when recording sales:

Pricing Method

Use This Field

Description

Times the Money

Unit Price

Each unit is sold at the entered bid price.

One Money

Extended Price

One bid covers the entire quantity.

You’ll use these fields differently depending on auction setup and lot quantity, which is explained in the catalogued and non-catalogued articles.
