This article outlines hardware options supported by Auction Flex for live auctions, including modems, scanners, card readers, and accessories. It is intended for customers using the desktop version of Auction Flex. If you are using Auction Flex 360 or Cloud, most hardware listed here does not apply.
RF Modems
Who are RF Modems for?
Designed for auctioneers hosting live, in-person auctions in locations without reliable Wi-Fi. RF modems allow a clerking PC to operate without a traditional network by using radio frequency signals.
Setup Overview:
Sold in pre-programmed pairs.
One modem connects to your primary workstation.
The second modem connects to the clerking PC.
Important Notes:
RF modems are used only for clerking. The clerking PC cannot be used for check-in, checkout, or invoicing.
Not supported for:
Auction Flex 360
Auction Flex Cloud
Requirements & Considerations:
Requires one available USB-A port per PC. (USB hubs and USB-C not recommended.)
Metal structures (roofs, trailers, toppers) may affect signal.
Each clerking PC requires its own modem pair.
Modems may require supplemental AC power.
Keep modems dry and away from extreme temperatures.
Included in the box:
2 pre-programmed modems (labeled pairs: T1/T2, U1/U2)
2 antennas
2 optional AC adapters
2 USB extension cables (10 ft and 20 ft)
2D Barcode Scanners
Who are 2D Scanners for?
Ideal for scanning driver's licenses at live auctions or pickups to speed up bidder check-in.
Important Notes:
Not compatible with:
Auction Flex 360
States without barcode-enabled licenses
Requirements & Considerations:
Requires one USB-A port.
Only Auction Flex-supplied Honeywell scanners are supported.
Some state IDs (e.g., Kentucky) may have compatibility issues with the cloud version.
