Initiating the Upgrade (Primary)
The user can request the upgrade in two ways.
1. Automatic Reminder:
Upon exiting the program, the user is shown a window notifying them that an update is available.
If they click Update Now, it will initiate the download of the new .exe to start the upgrade.
If they click Remind Me Later, they will be reminded 7 days from the date of clicking the button.
2. Manually Check for Update:
The user can go to Help menu > Check for Updates.
If an update is available, they will see the update available screen.
Update Now — starts the upgrade process.
Remind Me Later — closes the window and reminds the customer in 7 days.
If no update is available, they will receive a message stating the installation is up to date.
Completing the Upgrade
After clicking Update Now, the user receives a warning screen advising them to close AuctionFlex on any secondary machines, along with any active AFM or RF modem connections.
2. Once they've verified any additional connections are closed, they check the confirmation checkbox marked Done and click Continue.
3. AuctionFlex begins downloading the new installer to a temp folder where AuctionFlex is stored (typically C:\AuctionFlex\temp).
4. Once the download completes, the upgrade starts automatically.
5. The user must click Yes on the prompt to allow the app to make changes to the device.
6. The system runs the customer's Data Utilities first.
7. The system automatically creates a backup to allow rollback in case the upgrade fails.
8. Data Utilities runs next.
9. If Data Utilities completes without errors, the customer is taken through the upgrade prompts.
10. Once the upgrade is complete, the customer can restart the PC to delete the installer files from the temp folder.
Initiating the Upgrade (Secondary)
Note: If you try to perform the update on the secondary machine before the primary, you will receive the error message.
If the update has already been completed on the primary, you will be greeted with a notification message the first time you open the secondary advising that Auction flex needs to be updated.
2. Once you click OK, you will be given the update available window.
If you are ready to complete the update, click Update Now.
If you are unable to download the update at that time, click Remind Me Later to exit the program.
3. Once the upgrade is complete, you will need to restart the PC to delete the installer files from the temp folder.
